NOTE: New white rubber rings look cleaner on your machine than black rings. They are also softer (better ball bounce), and produce less dust. Black rings make more black dust, making your machine look dirty sooner. Black rings do last longer, but this is largely an illusion because you can't see the dirt and dust accumulation on them. |
| |
NOTE: Storing your white rubber rings under fluorescent lighting will turn them yellow due to the ultraviolet rays. |
| |
NOTE: Don't use your ball shooter with a worn or missing rubber plunger tip. The impact of the steel shooter rod against the ball will mushroom the top of the rod. After it mushrooms, it is difficult to remove the rod without cutting it. |

| Playfield and Flipper Parts: |
-
Coil Sleeves - weak flippers or poppers? A simple replacement of the nylon coil sleeve can be all you need to fix this. Specify long, short, or short with lip. $1.00 each.
-
Williams Plunger and Link - if you have weak flippers, replacing the coil sleeve and the plunger and link is probably all you need to restore them to like-new condition. $3.95 each.
-
DataEast Plunger and Link - same as above, but for DataEast. $4.50 each.
-
Williams Plunger, Link and Crank - includes the flipper crank and the plunger and link, for newer Williams games. $9.95
-
DataEast Plunger, Link and Crank - for DataEast games. $10.95
-
Nylon Flipper Bushing - Williams Part #03-7568. Replaced everything else and your flippers are still weak? Try replacing the nylon insert that the metal flipper rod goes through. Mounts to the metal flipper plate, and extends through the playfield. If this part is worn, it can cause your flippers to drag on the playfield, causing playfield wear! $2.95
-
Coil Stops - for most manufacturers including Williams and DataEast. $2.99
-
Barrel, Flipper or Plunger Spring - $0.95
-
Williams Flipper - New $4.95
-
DataEast Flipper - New $4.95
-
Bally Flipper - Bally Part #C-116-5. New $4.95
-
Ball Shooter Sleeve (Williams) - New nylon ball shooter sleeve replaces worn sleeve for accurate ball launches. $0.95 each
-
Ball Shooter Rod - Brand new replacement. Specify Williams or DataEast $7.95
-
Standup Targets, Round. Various colors, 1' diameter, universal mount stand up targets fit in most games. Screw mounted leaf switch allows front or back bracket mounting. $9.95 each.
-
Standup Targets, Square. Various colors, 1' x 1' face, universal mount stand up targets fit in most games. Screw mounted leaf switch allows front or back bracket mounting. $9.95 each.
-
Standup Target, Rectangle. Various colors. 1' x 1/2' face, universal mount stand up targets fit in most games. Screw mounted leaf switch allows front or back bracket mounting. $9.95 each.
-
Playfield Glass. Replace that old, scratched playfield glass with new tempered glass. $39.00
-
Pinballs - 1 1/16' diameter. New chrome. The standard size for all recent machines. Do your game a real favor and buy it a NEW ball. An OLD orb with tiny scratches is like SANDPAPER on your playfield! $1.50 each
|
| |
NOTE: Bamboo sticks (from shish-kabobs) and wood glue are a good fix for playfield holes that have been reamed out. Match stick and toothpicks also work. For permanent repair of a worn post hole, drill the hole all the way through and use a machine thread stud and a threaded T-nut. |

NOTE: Use #47 lamps instead of #44. They burn slightly dimmer than #44's, but draw less current and last longer. The also put less stress on the GI (general illumination) wiring and header pins. This is also a good idea where lights are under or inside plastic parts that can warp with heat. |
| |
NOTE: If you're going to buy a variety of lamps for general pinball restoration, get some #47's (or #44's), #555's, #89's (flashers) and #906/912's (flashers). These are the lamps used most often in today's pinball machines. If you're working on older 1980s games, just get #47's and #89's or #63's (flashers). If you are working on 1970s and prior EM games, get just #47's. |

NOTE: Don't break off the ground pin on your pinball's AC wall plug. An ungrounded game can give a shock. The ground plug also allows voltage spikes to drain without damaging sensitive chips on your pinball pc boards. |
| |
NOTE: Replace connector pins and housings that have burned or discolored. This way you can see if the connector overheats in the future. Also if you replace a connector pin, also replace the corresponding header pin too! Don't forget to re-solder the other header pins on the boards to freshen old (cold) solder joints that have weakened due to heat. |

Tamper-Proof (Security) Torx Bit Set
Tamper-proof screws have a small nipple in the center of the screw that makes it near impossible to loosen without the proper bit. They are widely used in many arcade games. This set contains sizes T-10, T-15, T-20, T-25, T-30, T-35, and T-40. These commonly used sizes in arcade machines, but are difficult to find locally. $8.95 |

Playfield Cleaning Supplies: |
- NOVUS Plastic Polish #1 - large bottle. Great final cleaner for DiamondPlate playfields and plastic ramps. Use after Novus #2. $6.95
- NOVUS Plastic Polish #2 - large bottle. Recommended by major pinball manufacturers as the cleaner of playfields and all plastics. Remove minor scratches. Excellent for one-step playfield care. $6.95
- CP100 Playfield Cleaner - The 8 oz. blue bottle for non-mylar covered or non-Diamond Plate playfields. Excellent for removing deep dirt and removing old adhesives from playfield. $5.95
|
| |
TIP: If you're going to buy just one type of Novus plastic polish, get #2. It's the one you'll use the most, and serves a wide variety of uses. |
| |
TIP: When cleaning newer pins, don't forget to remove the ramps under the playfield and clean them. Sure you can't see them, but they accumulate more dirt (which is picked up by the ball and spread all over) than ramps above the playfield! |
| |
| TIP: Avoid using the playfield prop rod to support the playfield during repair on older games. The playfield plywood can twist and flex while on the support. This can create or aggravate lengthwise cracks in the playfield surface paint. Lean the playfield up against the backbox instead. |
